Enhancement of the Entrepreneurial Environment

Activity Overview

Establish and operate the Michinoku University Network for Entrepreneurial Support (MuNES), set up a consultation service for entrepreneurs at each university, promote sharing and maintenance of university regulations related to startups, and operate the Tohoku Consortium Prototype Coordination Office (TPCO) to support prototype production.

Implementation Structure

Enhancement of Entrepreneurial Environment for Entrepreneurship Education

Establish an entrepreneurship consultation service at each university to connect and collaborate with the government contact “PlusOne”. Promote the sharing and maintenance of university regulations related to startups at each university. Tohoku Consortium Prototype Coordination Office(TPCO) will be used to coordinate the creation of various types of prototypes in cooperation with public testing centers and small and medium-sized enterprise promotion organizations in each municipality. Ensure liaison channels with public testing laboratories in each municipality, with the cooperation of all joint and cooperating institutions participating in this program and the Tohoku Center of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). Create a database of the infrastructure available at each institution for prototyping, and coordinate desk studies and actual prototyping to enable students and researchers who wish to start a business to materialize their ideas (including prototyping), regardless of institution or location.
Establish and operate the Michinoku University Network for Entrepreneurial Support (MuNES) to strongly promote the above efforts.

Formation and development of hub cities ecosystem

Activity Overview

In order to form a startup ecosystem in the Tohoku region, the universities participating in this platform have newly joined the Hub City Consortium and established a Platform Promotion Conference as a place to share information on the planning and operation of various measures, thereby strengthening industry-academia-government-finance collaboration within the Consortium. This has strengthened industry-academia-government-finance collaboration within the consortium.

In addition, by utilizing the resources within the consortium, the universities participating in the platform will hold pitch events and various seminars for researchers and students who aim to start their own businesses, thereby building a network and cooperation among the parties involved in the startup ecosystem in the Tohoku region.
